We listen to these people?

“Your husband’s attitude…is due to your unattractive, overweight and therefore aging appearance. He becomes ashamed of you, and so do your children. Go on one of my diets and see how your husband and your life brightens up - it happens in most cases.

“Too many of my patients have come to me after their homes were wrecked because the wife was fat, unappealing, leading to divorce.” ~Dr. Irwin Stillman, The Doctor’s Quick Inches-Off Diet, pg. 233

The entire book is filled with quotes along this line. It seems Dr. Stillman realized that humiliating and degrading his ‘patients’ was a sure way to keep them coming back for more. If the treatment fails, blame the patient.

“I don’t find fat pretty…I don’t look at a fat woman and say, ‘Oh my gosh, she’s beautiful just the way she is!’” ~Richard Simmons

Of course not…there wouldn’t be any money in that for you, Dick.

“My motivation was not, and still isn’t, health…I wanted to look good. My motivation was to look better than my husband’s girlfriend. Absolutely the truth. And you know what? I do.” ~ Susan Powter

Good for you, Sue. It’s easy to feel good about yourself when you’ve made $133 million off other people’s gullibility. Even if you *do* end up filing for bankruptcy after.

Do you think any of these diet gurus are motivated by health? I seriously doubt it.
